In olden days at the time of kings & Emperors, there uses to be a department called ‘DARU MEHAKMA’ (Liquor Department) that used to prepare three type of liquor called ‘ikbaara’, ‘dubara’, and ‘aasav’. ‘IKBARA’ liquor prepared was meant for normal men. ‘DUBARA’ was for the senior people and jagirdaars and the ‘AASAV’ was meant for King and their royal family members & special guest of the royalty. |

‘AASAV’ is an ayurvedic term. In Ayurveda there is description of many types of ‘aasav’s’ like ‘Drakshasav’, ‘Kumari Aasav’, ‘Dasmul Aasav’, ‘Chandr Haas Aasav’ etc. These Aasav’s increases male potency, vigor, strength and makes human body healthy and energetic. It is also useful in general weakness and deability and as well helps in digestion, general liver and skin diseases.
At Jaipur state there was a section known as ‘chatissi kaarkhana jaan’ that has 36 small sub departments. The ‘kalali bhatti’(Daru Kahana) i.e. Liquor Department, was also one of them. Thakur Zorawar Singh, of Kanota Thikana was deputed as chief of this department in 1863 and stayed at the post for 11 years. At his regime he consulted many vaidyas and hakims (used to be Ayurvedic doctors at old time) and prepared an energetic and therapeutic valued Aasav that was being serve to King and his guests. These prepared Aasav’s used to be kept in record for reference and are available in hand for orientation.
The original term ‘Chandr Haas’ means 'Sword', which means Chandr haas destroys all the bad aliments in body as what Sword accomplish. Chandr Haas 60 ml. peg should be consumed daily for its effectiveness and for it’s therapeutic value.
Later Tahkur Shivnath Singh the grandson of Thakur Zorawar Singh was deputed the chief of this department. He documented each and every formula of preparation of Aasav’s and recorded in Books which is still lying at General Amar Singh Library at Kanota. His elder brother Major Bahadur Amar Singh used to prepare & manufacture these aasav’s at Kanota Castle and served these Aasav’s to Major Generals of English Empire.

Royal Chandr Haas was first introduced in the year 1863 for the Royal Houses of Jaipur by the prominent family of Kanota headed By Thakur Zorawar Singh, the founder of Kanota Thikana. Since 1863, the family of Kanota takes pride in contributing the century old tradition of Royal Liqueur following the original secret recipe with traditional distillation process.
Thakur Zorawar Singh, the founder of Kanota Thikana, belonged to the Champawat family of Pilwa, an estate of Jaipur. He came to Jaipur and joined the Jaipur administrative service. Due to his outstanding abilities as an administrator and sportsman he became a confident of Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh of Jaipur. By the end of reign of Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh he had established himself as prominent noble in the Jaipur state and played very important role in the succession of Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh at the throne of Jaipur. He served the royal family for 46 years.
